Jasper Moody Brown Sr., 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at First Wesleyan Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Ed Lindsey. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born December 18, 1923 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Denny Pearson and Shellie Harris Brown. Jasper served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. During his military career, he received the American Theatre, the European-African Middle East Star, the Asiatic-Pacific and the Victory Medals.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Troy for over 60 years and a former member of the Troy Lions Club. He retired as a Post Master for Troy in 1985 after serving 27 years.  He also worked in the Pro-Shop at the Montgomery County Country Club for 12 years and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his sons, Jackie Brown (Patsy) of Mt. Gilead and Tommy Brown of Pinehurst; his daughter, Trudy B. East of Biscoe; three grandchildren, Chris Brown, Amy Honeycutt and Jennifer East; four great grandchildren, Aaron Byrd, Josh Byrd, Austin James and Abby James; and three great great-grandchildren, Emily Byrd, Ethan Byrd and Brooklyn Byrd. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Kearns Brown; and brothers, Selby Brown and Raeford Brown.
