Janice Marie (Simmons) Saunders

Janice Marie Simmons Saunders, a loving, kind, and friendly woman, passed away on May 14, 2023, in Montgomery County at the age of 63.

The family will be having a service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall. Anyone attending Janice's service, please bring a covered dish and drinks.

Born on March 7, 1960, in Randolph County, to the late Vernon Eugene and Shelby Callicutt Simmons. Janice was known for her love of the outdoors and her green thumb. Her passion for gardening was evident in the vegetable garden she produced. She took great pleasure in fishing, an activity she often shared with her family and friends. Janice was also an exceptional cook, often sharing her delicious recipes with those around her. One of Janice's favorite pastimes was sitting on the front porch, rocking in her chair, and watching her grandchildren play. Janice is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Ray Saunders, of the home; three children, Jennifer McIntyre and April Mabe, both of Star, and Jamie Ray Saunders of Troy; six grandchildren; and brothers, Ernest Simmons and Remus Simmons, both of Troy, and Vernie Simmons, Jr. of Archdale. Janice is preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Smith. Bumgarner Family Funeral Service is serving the Saunders family.
