Jane Lee Souther Mcclanathan

Jane Lee Souther McClanathan passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Moore County Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina. She was born in Hamlet, North Carolina, on April 12, 1945, to Raymond and Jeannie Souther. A resident of Maxton, North Carolina, she has worked for the Comfort Inn in Laurinburg and Choice Hotels International.
A lover of books and gardening, pottery and baskets, Jane will always be remembered for her love of friends, family, and fellowship. A visit to "Grandma Jane's House" always included food, laughter, and a sense of belonging. A lover of puzzles, she never found one she could not finish. Her love of good jokes, a game of bridge with the "Goin' Out Girls," and a trip to Ledbetter Lake was second only to her love of helping others. We are all better for having known her.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Souther. She is survived by her husband, Jim McClanathan; her daughters, Amy (Cary) Powers and Sabrina Sugden; and her son, Jamie (Teresa) McClanathan. She is also survived by her sister, Ann (Sean) Fitz-Simons; and her brother, Ray (Betty Ann) Souther; her grandchildren Tyler McClanathan, Emma and Henry Powers, Noah and Ian Somers, Alex and Nick Sherbine, Autumn Fite, Hunter Rayfield, and Leif Gaddy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A casual yet memory filled Celebration of Life will be held on September 18, 2010, between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Cypress Bend Vineyards, 21904 Riverton Road, Wagram, NC 28396
Because Jane comes from a family of educators, her loved ones ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane McClanathan be made to the Carol Parker Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Bill Terry, First United Methodist Church, 101 West Church St., Laurinburg, North Carolina 28352.
