Jane Shaffer

Jane Sudie-Fay Shaffer, 83 of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

A memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Ellerbe, officiated by the Rev. Ricky Jacobs. The family will receive friends during the week at the daughter’s residence located at 407 Dockery Rd., Rockingham, N.C. 28379.

Born April 16, 1935 in Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late John Maness and Lillie Neola Oliver Russell. Jane loved dancing, hunting of all kinds, drove race cars and snow mobiles and enjoyed ice fishing. She once worked on fishing boats on Lake Michigan. She retired from the textile industry.

She is survived by her daughter, Edna Faye Wix of the home; sons, Jack E. Wix of Oakboro, NC and David Thomas Wix (Connie) of Del Rio, TX; brother, William Boyd Russell (Diane) of Greensboro; sisters, Johnsie Conyers (Larry) and Brenda Herberg (Larry) both of Rockingham and Alice Ann Lambert (Gary) of Hamlet; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter.
