James Lee Walker, 80, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Michael Malpass and Rev. Dr. Thomas Marshall. Burial will be at Glendale Christian Church Cemetery in Glendale, Kentucky at a later date.

Born April 4, 1937 in Hardin County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Percy and Mildred Blake Walker. He was a mechanical engineer and retired from Toastmaster in 2001. His passion for serving others was evident in his commitment to his church and community. He volunteered in many areas including the Volunteer Fire Department, scuba diver for Search and Rescue, Peanut and Little League Baseball coach, and Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster. More recently, he gave much of himself to the John Blue Cotton Festival, Scotland County Historic Properties Commission, NC Baptist Disaster Relief, and InAsMuch Services through New Hope Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and served as a deacon for 38 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Anna Mae LaRue Walker of the home; his children, Mark LaRue Walker (Sally) of Nazareth, PA and Lea Anne Walker O’Brien (Bob Hertzog) of Huntersville, NC; his grandchildren, Walker J. O’Brien, Mackenzie G. O’Brien, L. Patrick O’Brien, Rowan P. Walker, Devon L. Walker, Alex R. Hertzog and Marisa A. Hertzog. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Walker.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
