Mr. James R. "Buck" Stanton, 63, of 9940 Rockingham Rd. died Friday. October 6, at Northeast Medical Center in Concord.


Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Springfield Church of God officiated by the Revs. Dan Carter, A. M. Stephens, and David Shoemake Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Donnie Freeman Stanton; two sons, James R. "Booty" Stanton, Jr. of Laurel Hill and Terry Stanton of Gibson; two daughters, Gail Jackson and her husband, John of Laurinburg, Debbie Shoemake and her husband, the Rev. david of Kannapolis; two sisters, Sue Peele of Gibson and Eloise Gibson of Hampton, VA; four grandchildren; Jonathan Jackson, Kelly Jackson, Ashley Shoemake and Micah Stanton.


He was predeceased by a sister, Myrtle Stanton, and two brothers, Willie Stanton and June Stanton.


Born November 20, 1936 in Marlboro County, he was a son of the late Frank and Elva Beverly Stanton. He began operation of Westwood Texaco in 1962 and most recently was the owner of Bucka
