Mr. James Martin "Jim" Maddox, 67, of 12521 Bagpipe Lane died suddenly, Monday, March 6, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Neal Carter and Rev. Elizabeth Forester. Burial will be Friday, 1 p.m. at Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Chamblee Maddox; a son, Karl Maddox and wife, Kelli, of Columbia; a daughter, Laure Howell and husband, Greg, of Blythewood; a sister, Frankie Squires of Conway; mother-in-law, Azilee B. Chamblee of Lexington; grandchildren, Wilson, Ryan and Claire Maddox; a number of nieces and nephews.

Born January 21, 1939 in Anderson, SC he was a son of the late William J. and Annie Laura Maddox. Jim was a graduate of Newberry College and was a past president of the Kiwanis Club in Anderson, was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as superintendent of the Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder.

In 1989 they moved to Laurinburg where he served as plant manager of Springs Industries. He was an active member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the United Way, a trustee for Scotland Memorial Hospital, and served on the board of the Southern Textile Association.

Memorials may be made to Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, 600 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at his residence and following the funeral in the church fellowship hall.
