James "Jacob" Fairley Butler, III, 20, of Gibson, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
The family will have a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel, officiated by David Locklear. During the memorial service there will be a time for family and friends to share their stories of Jacob.
Born August 5, 2002 in Moore County, he is the son of James "Jamie" F. Butler Jr (Jennifer) of Iowa and Cristen Monroe (Ricky) of Hamer, SC. Jacob was a Class A Lineman with Mastec. He was proud to be a junior fireman with the Laurinburg Fire Department and a volunteer fireman with the Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Jacob as he was affectionally known, enjoyed riding horses, rodeos, four wheeling, hunting, fishing and relaxing by the fire talking to family and friends. He especially loved his truck, hanging out with his friends and his family, and his dog Gage; along with his work crew at Mastec.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his half-brother, Kayden Butler of Iowa; half-sister, Kailynn Butler of Iowa; grandparents, Jim Ellis (June) of Laurel Hill and Betty Butler of Laurinburg; uncle, Andy Monroe (Amie) of Laurinburg; aunt, Amanda Perkins of Laurinburg; his cousins, Drew Monroe, Morgan Monroe, Khloe Monroe, Ash Caulder, Greg Woodside (Stephanie) and their children, Brooklyn Woodside and Gracie Woodside of Laurinburg; Tony Woodside (Summer) and their son, Gavin Stanley, Ashley Alston and her children, Christopher, Rebecca, and Austin Shiflett of Laurinburg; and Jacob's special friend Brooke Odom. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather James Fairley Butler Sr.; maternal grandfather, James Monroe; his uncle, Matt Ellis; and Aunt Sharon Lynn Butler.
