Mr. James Edward Herring, 64, of 1205 Dunbar Drive died Sunday, July 31, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Stan Smith. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
James is survived by his wife, Pansy Guyton Herring; a son, James Edward (Ed) Herring, Jr. and wife, Carla of Laurinburg; a daughter, Wendy Edgerley and husband, Dale of Laurinburg; a brother, John Richard Herring and wife, Margaret of Laurinburg; three grandchildren, Taylor Edgerley, Hannon and Harmon Herring.
James was born September 27, 1940 in Bennettsville, SC a son of the late John Richard Herring and Louise Gibson Wallace. He grew up in Laurel Hill, graduating from Laurel Hill High School. He was formerly in management with Cone Mills and later Cheraw Dyeing and Finishing before retiring at Waverly Mills. He was also a Mason and Shriner and past Master of the Hamlet Masonic Lodge.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium and other times at the home.
