James Franklin Haywood

James Franklin Haywood, 77, of Troy passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Troy, officiated by Pastor Nick Allen. Burial will follow at the Candor Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church.

Born May 28, 1946, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Jonah and Mildred Mauldin Haywood. James loved country and gospel music. He enjoyed working in his yard and playing with his toys.

James is survived by his son, Bryan Haywood of Sophia; brother, Ernest Haywood of Troy; sister, Naomi Stutts of Ellerbe. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Threadgill Haywood and his sisters, Cozette Green and Shirley Dorsett.
