James David Greene

James David Greene, age 66, of Mt. Gilead, was reunited with his Heavenly Family on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Bumgarner Family Chapel, officiated by Rev. Chris Mabe.  Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery, Troy.

Born June 8, 1953 at Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Barney Alvin and Opal Parker Greene.  He loved football, especially his 49ers and dancing.  He also loved to fish with his brothers and nephews.  He was a former long-distance truck driver for Allen Dale Furniture.

He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Greene of Troy, Rhonda Thompson and Debra Roberts, both of Mt. Gilead; two sons, David Shaffey of Oakboro and Joshua Greene of Texas; five sisters, Joyce Rouse, Janice Greene, both of Troy, Shirley Blankenship of Mt. Gilead, Patty Greene of Star and Donna Casteen of Troy; three brothers, Roger Greene of South Carolina, Billy Ray Greene of Star and Johnny Greene of Kannapolis; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandchild and one brother, JR. Greene.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service, Troy.
