James Aubry Graham Jr. died June 13th, 2016 at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

A memorial service, officiated by Dr. Wayne Wike, will be held Friday, June 17th, 2016 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Laurinburg.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Son of James Aubry and Mattie Bullock Graham, Jim was born and raised in Robeson County on the Fuller Farm between Pembroke and Lumberton.    A graduate of Western Carolina College, he came to Laurinburg in 1955 to work for Pate Supply as a traveling hardware salesman before running the print shop for the Laurinburg Exchange.  The past forty-five years of his professional career, however, have been spent in the real estate and appraisal industry.  He co-owned North State Realty Company, then established Jim Graham Realtors and later co-established Realty World/ Graham and Grubbs Realty.    He truly loved promoting Laurinburg and Scotland County and spent a lifetime helping others.

Jim was active in local organizations, including the Jaycees, Rotary Club, Masons, Shriners and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church.  He loved to hunt and fish in the Sandhills.  He enjoyed gardening and playing golf, and he led the cheering section for all of his grandchildren’s endeavors.   He loved telling a joke or reciting a poem and will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Smith and son-in-law, Scott Lingafelt.   He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Eileen Jamerson Graham; his son James (Claire) of Laurinburg;  his daughter Lynn Lingafelt of Raleigh; his sisters Martha Bailey of Clemson, SC and Nell Lyons of Lumberton; and his six grandchildren:  Susannah, Wells, and Aubry Graham and Luke, Sarah, and Philip Lingafelt.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caregivers and staff at Scottish Pines for their loving care and friendship during the past six months.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Laurinburg, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
