James "Jim" Edward Luther

James “Jim” Edward Luther, 74, of Troy passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Troy, officiated by Pastor Vanlene Nelson and Rev. Daniel Luther. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites.

Born September 5, 1950, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Wallace and Walser Mae Dennis Luther. Jim had served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After serving in the military, he was employed with Randolph Acoustical & Drywall where he retired as a supervisor with over 40 years of service.  He enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. Jim was very particular about his vehicles and yard and wanted them to be neat and clean.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Burris Luther of the home; brothers, Don Luther (Susan) and Dennis Luther (Gail), both of Troy; and sisters-in law, Joyce Shepherd and Linda Hunt, both of Troy.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 25, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.
