James Danny Hinson

James Danny Hinson, 76, of Troy, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

A funeral service, with military honors, will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy, officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

A proud veteran, Danny served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he devoted himself to a lifetime of service within his local community, becoming a devoted member and deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy. His role in the church reflected his enduring passion for helping others and being a steady presence for those in need. Danny had retired as a supervisor with the Asheboro Housing Authority with 21 years of service. Danny was a man of few words, yet his actions spoke volumes. He found joy in working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Oliff Hinson, of the home; daughter, Dawn McCauley (Michael) of WA; sisters, Diane Hogan (Larry) of Albemarle, Sandra Ussery, and Barbara Corbett (Don), both of Troy; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his son, Cothran.
