James "Jim" Clifton Callicutt

James “Jim” Clifton Callicutt, 85, of Troy passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, officiated by Rev. Blake Davis and Pastor Carl Burrow. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born August 19, 1939, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Percy Ivey and Golden Alice Sanders Callicutt. Jim was the owner and operator of Callicutt’s Logging & Saw Milling. Jim loved his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with each and every one of them. Jim was a hard worker, loved his animals, and he had a big heart.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Laney Morgan Callicutt, of the home; daughter, Alice Elizabeth Callicutt Dunn, of Black Ankle; sons, James Ivey Callicutt (Kim) and Terry Lynn Callicutt (Joanna), both of Troy; brother, Joseph Callicutt of Love Joy; sister, Patsy Brooks of Love Joy; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brothers, John Ivey Callicutt and Jerry Lee Callicutt.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church prior to the service.
