James Edward Boone

James Edward Boone, 86, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Morrison Manor.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Tom Dendy. A memorial service and committal will be at a later date in West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jenny Nutter Boone; a son, Ed Boone and wife, Joann of Laurinburg; a daughter, Shari Hudson and husband, Tom of Laurinburg; a brother, Frank Boone of Yukon, OK; two sisters, Anna Mae McClean of Massilon, OH and Goldie Zickafoose of Waldorf, MD; three grandchildren, Whitney Allen and husband, Bradley of Charlotte, Grady Boone and wife, Bianca of Myrtle Beach, and Casey Cook of Laurinburg; five great grandchildren, Parker Allen, Abagail Allen, McKenzie Boone, Reilly Boone, and Andrew Cook.

He was born March 28, 1923 in Layland, WV and was a son of the late Charlie and Effie Crimmitte Boone. During World War II he served with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Germany. He was a retired Federal Mine Health and Safety inspector for the Department of Labor.

James enjoyed the outdoors, trout fishing, traveling, woodworking, and his electric train collection. He was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, a Mason for 62 years, and a member of the McDonald's Breakfast Club.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
