Jacob Ballard

Jacob Brant Ballard, 31 of Greenville SC, formerly of Mt. Gilead, NC, died February 21, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church Chapel, Troy, NC, officiated by Rev. Jim Hunsucker.  Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, NC.

Born September 22, 1986 in Montgomery County, NC, he was a son of Ted Ballard and Jaye Gentry Ballard.  He was a Technician in the HVAC industry.  He loved spending time with his children and family and playing the drums.  He raced for BMW Racing Club Series, Champ Car Series and was a member of SRI Racing Team.

Jacob is survived by his loving wife, Kayla Rachelle Ballard of the home; one son, Slade Charles Lane Ballard of the home; one daughter, Jade Rachelle Ballard of the home; father, Ted Ballard; mother, Jaye Gentry Ballard and step-father, Albert Eugene Pereida; brothers, Paul Ballard and wife Liz, Stephen Ballard and girlfriend Miranda; sister, Dinah Ballard Coley and husband Justin; step-sister, Autumn Smith and husband Michael; father-in-law, Bryan McCoy and wife Sandy; mother-in-law, Cherrie McCoy; 6 nieces and nephews; 3 step-nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Samuel Jackson Gentry and Virginia Hales Gentry Long; paternal grandparents, Curtis Lane Ballard and Virginia Frances Ballard; and uncle, Samuel Jeffrey Gentry.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 25, 2018, 30 minutes prior to the service at First Baptist Church Chapel, 401 E. Main Street, Troy, NC.
