Ila Pearl (Caison) Godwin

Ila Pearl Caison Godwin, 85, of Laurinburg, entered into the gates of heaven on May 23, 2016 at Morrison Manor.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born September 20, 1930 in Laurinburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry Kitchen “Kit” and Gladys Phipps Caison. She attended Laurinburg High School. She worked at Dixie Anna Mills and retired from Abbott Lab. She then worked at Community Drug. She was a member of the East Laurinburg Church of God. She loved dining out and shopping with her friends. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Godwin Mitchell of Laurel Hill; her brothers, Charles Caison (Lorraine) of California and Cecil Caison of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, Scott Mitchell of Ohio, Brian Mitchell (Tina) of Ohio, Brent Mitchell (Angie) of Laurinburg, Marcus Mitchell of Laurel Hill, Tony Deberry (Josie) of Laurinburg, Nikki Locklear (Kelly) of Wagram; fourteen great grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Linda Godwin Deberry Farris, her brother William Harold Caison, her sister Patricia Ellen Caison Robinson and special Aunt Elizabeth Duncan Phipps.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, N.C. 28353.

We as a family wish to thank all the people who have helped during this difficult time, her church family, special friends, Joyce and Bill Ellis, Bonnie Hunt, Edith Evans and Margaret Breeden, and to all the caring staff of hospice for the excellent care and compassion shown to our family.
