Mr. Horace Lester English, 74, of 12841 S. Caledonia Road died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Scotland memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with lung disease..
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Ralph Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia "Midge" English; two sons, Ted English and wife, Becky of Rowland; Tim English of Cary; two daughters, Tammy Velie and husband, Greg of Winston-Salem and Lynn McDougald and husband, Beacham of Laurinburg; a special nephew, Doug English and wife, Becky of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Michael McDougald of Asheville, Hannah McDougald of Wilmington, Jennifer English of Rowland, and Sarah Beth English of Rowland; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Brock of Laurinburg and Christopher Brock of Rockingham.
Horace was born May 27, 1933 in Robeson County, a son of the late Ted and Zellie Boysworth English. He graduated from Maxton High School and entered the US Air Force where he served in the intelligence division for 23 years in various countries and states. He retired as Senior Master Sergeant, relocating back in his hometown area where he was the owner and operator of English Insulation Service.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
