Mr. Henry Wayne Strickland, 52, of Raleigh died Thursday, September 21, at Wake Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium chapel officiated by the Revs. Wade Outlaw and Earl Henderson. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Michelle Strickland Locklear and husband, Timmy of Laurinburg; his mother, Elizabeth Howell Strickland of Laurinburg; two brothers, William (Ronnie) Culbreth and wife, Carol of Cleveland, TN and Ricky D. Strickland of Laurinburg; a special granddaughter who was more like his daughter, Chayton Elizabeth Hall of Raleigh.
Born August 31, 1954 in Marlboro County, he was also a son of the late Buck Strickland. He was a former employee of LOF Glass in Laurinburg until his sight began failing. He was blind by 1988 and attended the Governor Morehead School in Raleigh. Most recently he was employed by Pullen Park as well as other places in Raleigh. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who once loved fishing and coon hunting.
The family will be receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
