Helen Rose (Harvell) Hurley

Helen Rose Harvell Hurley, 78, of Troy, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at her home.

A funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Troy, officiated by Rev. Daniel Luther and Rev. Mark Harper. Burial will follow in Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 1100 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Troy, NC. Visitation will be prior to the service at Tabernacle Baptist Church, beginning at 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Born October 29, 1939 in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Rose Reavis Harvell. Helen was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 55 plus years. She loved to sew, cook for others, and loved working in the yard with her flowers. Helen loved quilting and unselfishly gave quilts to the church for benefits and to others. She had a multitude of friends and whenever you visited her home, you never left without something she had either baked or made.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years of the home, Joe Hurley; sons, Doug (Debbie) Hurley of Greensboro, Harold (Yvonne) Hurley and Darrell (Pam) Hurley, both of Troy; brother, Raymond Harvell (Susie) of Asheboro; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Hurley Lowder and her sister, Clara Ann Willetts.
