Hedy Ammons Taylor

Hedy Ammons Taylor, 61, finished her course in faith in the early hours of Wednesday, February 8, 2012 with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her sons, Mark Taylor of McColl, J. T. Taylor of Pinehurst, and Scott Ammons of Pembroke; her daughters, Elizabeth Taylor of Laurinburg and Anita Waters of Gaffney, SC; her mother, Louise Deaton Ammons of Laurinburg; her brother, Gray Ammons (Ruth Ann) of Laurinburg; her sister, Sheila Ammons-Jackson (Gene) of Gibson; her grandchildren, John Charles Ammons and Jessica Elaine Ammons of Sumter, SC, Ethan Gage Taylor and MacKenna Taylor of McColl; her nieces and nephews, Madison Grace Jackson, Jonathan Gordon Jackson, Hannah Caroline Ammons, and Augustus Grayson Ammons; and special friends, Beverly Scott and Travis Strickland.

Born May 1, 1950 in Laurinburg, Hedy was also a daughter of the late J. D. Ammons. She served with Scotland County during the mapping and number process for the 911 system and later for the Scotland County Memorial Library.

Hedy enjoyed reading, watching old movies, spending time with her family, traveling, cooking delicious meals, and enjoying chocolate. She was also a devoted and very active member of East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.

As her family recalled during her brief illness: "She has fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith."

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
