Hearl Chavis, 64, died Monday, February 21, 2011.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at South Laurinburg Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
He is survived by two daughters, Toni Michelle Priest and Tina Marie Newton (Timmy) of Laurinburg; two brothers, A. B. Chavis (Jo) and Ederson Chavis (Linda) of Laurinburg; three sisters, LeeElla Chavis of Laurinburg, Isabelle Hawkins of Greensboro, and Arie Chavis; 6 grandchildren.
Born August 5, 1946 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Ben and Ruby Anderson Chavis. He was a construction worker.
Hearl enjoyed fishing and took care of his late wife for seven years.
