Hazel Eleanor Wallace Marks, 96, passed away Monday, June 29, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, and the family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughter Eleanor "Elroy" Snead (Sam) of Laurinburg; her granddaughters, Robin Snead of Laurinburg and Ashley McDaniel (Billy) of Raleigh; her great grandchildren, Andrew Oswald, Anna, Thomas, Mary Katherine, and Caleb McDaniel; and a special cousin, Marguerite Turner of Dillon, SC.
Born January 5, 1919 in Dillon, she was a daughter of the late Archie W. and Essie Guill Wallace and widow of the late F. LeRoy Marks. For several years she was a secretary and receptionist for Drs. Nesmith and Griffin and later served as a bookkeeper for McNair Farms for 20 years.
She was a multi-talented lady known for her stylish dress and her skills with all types of sewing and needlework. Her home was filled with beautiful needlepoint pictures and chair bottoms as well as many crocheted and knitted afghans. She was also a lover of dolls of which she sewed and embroidered many gowns and clothing.
