Hazel Morgan Smith, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel, officiated by Pastor Michael Malpass. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m., one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence of her daughter, Barbara S. Smith, 11860 Purcell Rd., Laurinburg, N.C. 28352.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Preston Eugene Smith of Laurinburg; her daughter, Barbara S. Smith of Laurinburg; two brothers, Glenn Morgan Catawba N.C. and Ray Morgan, of Catawba, S.C.; three grandchildren, Karen Phillips (Steve), Sandra Williams (Scotty), and Jennifer Smith; seven great grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Smith Jr.; five sisters, Virginia McLellan, Gladys Walters, Lucille Walters, Ruby McLellan and Ailene McLellan; her brother, Earl Morgan and son-in-law, Gary L. Smith.

Born September 5, 1927 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert B. and Velma Green Morgan. She was a member of East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from J.P. Stevens.

Hazel was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and especially gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
