Laurin "Spec" Sutherland, 90, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. A family burial will be 10:15 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Louisa Sutherland of Laurinburg, Blanche Powell (Gene) of Springfield, VA, Tish Roberts (Joe) of Bonaire, GA, and Laurin Hardy (Tim) of Newburgh, IN; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Tish.
Spec was born February 8, 1922 in Laurinburg and lived here most of his life. He attended Lees McRae and left to join the Royal Canadian Air Force. When the US entered the war he joined the US Army Air Corps and flew over 1800 hours of missions in over 20 aircraft.
He was the owner of Sutherland Auto Supply for 30 years. Spec was a lifelong member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in forming Church community Services.
He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him, and was an inspiration to many. A humble man, he modeled his faith by the way he lived his life.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
