Grant Levi Perkinson, 27, died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at his residence.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Buffaloe Cemetery in Sanford. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Gene Cobb. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
Grant is survived by his mother, Janet McDougald Perkinson Hayes and step-father, Charles A. Hayes of Sanford; two sisters, Anna Stewart Perkinson of Sanford and Elizabeth Hayes Gould and husband Mark of Burlington; two nephews, Connor Gould and Bennett Gould. He was preceded in death by his father, George Levi Perkinson, his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Sterling Levi Perkinson and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hill McDougald, and a special uncle, James Herring "Jim" McDougald. Grant will be missed by many friends whom he loved and who loved him very much.
Born September 4, 1983 in Henderson, Grant later graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and attended NC State University, Mars Hill College, and UNC-Greensboro. He was chief estimator for Canady's Landscaping. Grant also enjoyed the railroads and trains, geography, and following international affairs.
His body will lie in state at Saint Luke United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
