Grace’s name perfectly describes her graceful personality, greeting others with a sweet smile and leaving with a happy parting. She was the ultimate “Nana,” “Mama,” “Mama Grace,” of whatever of the many names she was called by friends, her daughter, her sons, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews – all who deeply loved her - as did their younger friends.
Her home was a place of joy, fun, and excitement, and her presence and personality magnified all of it.
She left a void in many lives, but we will meet again!
Grace is survived by her husband, Michael Stanton Gibson; her sons, Michael Gibson and Billy Gibson, her daughter, Christi Gibson Britt; her mother, Mary Frances Monroe; her sisters, Mary Baer (Chris), Henrietta Edge (Mike), and Eva Ruth (David); her brothers, David Monroe (Mary) and Charles Monroe (Pam); her grandchildren, Trent and Olivia Gibson and Gibson and Gracen Britt. She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas and her father, David Monroe.
Her memorial service will be 2 pm Sunday at Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Memorial contributions are requested for Camp Monroe, 24501 Camp Monroe Rd. Laurel Hill, NC 28351.
