Mrs. Grace Smith Carlyle, 84, of Mulberry Street and a long time resident of Laurinburg, died Saturday, December 9, at Autumn Care of Shallotte.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Quinton Covington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Ronnie M. Carlyle of Sunset Beach, NC, Lewis Samuel Carlyle of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and William T. Carlyle of Whiteville, NC; one daughter, Geraldine Carlyle of Wake Forest, NC; seven grandchildren, Randall Carlyle, Lorie Ann Carlyle, Christine Cannon, Amy Carlyle, Allison Carlyle, Brandi Carlyle and Bella Grace Carlyle; six great grandchildren, Austin Carlyle, Lindsay and Ross Carlyle, Samatha Carlyle, Skylia and Nathaniel Locklear. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus M. Carlyle.
Born November 14, 1922 in Scotland County, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Clara Tyner Smith. She was a co-owner/operator of Grace & Myrtle's Beauty Shop and later owner of Grace's Boutique, where she worked until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Group and the Senior Club.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, 6-8 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
