Glenda Sue "Plug" Jones Taylor passed away on the 4th of February, 2024 at Scotia Village.
A funeral service will be on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Crematorium Chapel, officiated by Rev. Timothy Ray Moore. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on August 29, 1942 in Laurel Hill, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Jones and Odessa Ray Jones. Glenda was raised in the home of her grandparents, Eddie Lonnie Ray (Daddy to her) and Florence Pridgen Ray (Mama to her) along with her mother, Odessa. She married the love of her life, Earnest Taylor on November 24, 1961. She always said thanks to her sister-in-law, Addie White Taylor for introducing them.
A graduate of Laurel Hill High School, Glenda went on to pursue her passion for caring for others by earning her degree as a licensed practical nurse in Hamlet. She worked as an ER nurse for many years, providing comfort and aid to those in need. Following her tenure in the emergency room, Glenda served the community through her work with Dr. E.C. Womble in Wagram until his retirement. She also worked for the Scotland County Schools until her own retirement. Glenda's life was rich with interests that brought joy not only to her but also to those who knew her. She had a love for playing computer and an affection for Hallmark movies. Glenda could often be found sitting on her front porch, a glass of sweet tea in hand, enjoying the tranquility. She was a fan of "Walker, Texas Ranger.
Glenda loved to go places, whether on small outings or grand adventures. At Scotia, she was affectionately dubbed 'the boss,' and a “Grandma” to all the employees where she spent the last 16 months. Above all, Glenda's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life.
Glenda is survived by a loving family that includes her children, Teresa Taylor Robinson (Larry), Jerry Wayne Taylor, and Edward Lee Taylor (Sheila); her 16 grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Carol and Henry Byrd. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earnest Taylor; brother, William Gene Jones (Ada); her sister, Doris Lorene Jones Moore (Dr. Rev. Ronald O. Moore); her father and mother-in-law, Pete and Lessie Taylor; great-granddaughters, Skyla and Hayven Gibson; and grandson-in-law, Adam Wilkes Vallandingham.
