Glenda "Linda" Faye (Chavis) Smith

Glenda Linda Chavis Smith, 66, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at Atrium Health University City in Charlotte.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium prior to the service.  Due to COVID-19, masks are recommended and please practice social distancing.

Born April 2, 1955 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lewis and Maggie Locklear Chavis.  She farmed and worked in the food industry.  Glenda never met a stranger and enjoyed working in her yard.  She loved animals; especially her cats, Tater and Bone.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Hicks (Ken) of Clayton; son, Christopher Smith of Charlotte; her sister, Patricia Jacobs of Laurinburg; her brother, Randolph Chavis; two grandchildren, Kimber Hicks and Kyle Rains; great grandchildren, Payton Moore, Carter Moore, Easton Moore and Kehlani Rains;  She is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Barbara Chavis Wright, James Earl Chavis, Robert Ray Chavis and Jerry “Nick” Patrick Chavis.
