Gladys Phipps Caison

Mrs. Gladys Phipps Caison, age 98, went home with her Lord on Friday, November 14, 2008.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church where she had been an active member since 1926. The Rev. Quinton Covington will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, William Harold Caison and wife, Helen of Bennettsville, Charles H Caison and wife, Lorriane of San Landro, CA, and Cecil W. Caison of Laurinburg; a daughter, Ila Pearl Caison Godwin of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Ann Godwin Mitchell, Ted Robinson, and wife, Debbie, Jeff Robinson and wife, Julie, Nancy Buxton and husband, Mike, Terry Caison, John Caison, Crystal Caison, Chris Caison, Kit Caison, and Kimberly Caison; 18 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Caison was born August 11, 1910 in Horry County, Sc to William H. and Jeanetta Duncan Phipps. She moved to Laurinburg in 1926 where she met and Married Henry Kitchen (Kit) Caison who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Patricia Caison Robinson; four grandchildren, Cecil Warren Caison, Linda Godwin Deberry, Angie Caison, and Cingy Caison Freeman; sisters, Elizabeth Phipps, Lottie Mae Britt; and brothers, Clyde Phipps and David Phipps.

Mrs. Caison worked and retired from Waverly Mills. She was also a homemaker who loved working in her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed sewing.

She will be remembered for her faith, caring, and her love for her family.
