Gladys (Horne) Armstrong

Gladys Horne Armstrong, 94, of Laurinburg, passed away on November 24, 2023, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Bobby Joyner.

She was born on May 3, 1929, in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Wesley C. and Bertie Latzak Horne.

Gladys was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and teacher. She was a kindergarten teacher at Columbia Christian School and Covenant Classical Christian School in Columbia, South Carolina.

She is survived by her sons, William Ray Armstrong, Jr. (Jan) of Laurinburg and Mark W. Armstrong (Carol Hammond) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Trey and Seth Armstrong of Laurinburg; and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Armstrong, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium.
