Geraldine Hardy Clark, 75, finished her course in faith on Thursday, February 23, 2012.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the East Laurinburg Church of God officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey McGirt of the East Laurinburg Church of God, the Rev. Steve Adams of the Living Water Church of God, and the Rev. Eugene Ussery of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Gilford Clark; her son, Gil Clark of Laurinburg; her daughter, Becky C. Atkins (Jimmie) of Carthage; and her mother, Nellie Howell Hardy of Laurinburg. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Hardy.
Born June 10, 1936 in Raleigh, she was also a daughter of the late William Burnice Hardy. She attended Presbyterian Junior College with aspirations of becoming a teacher, but family finances prevented her from continuing her education. For 23 years she was a bookkeeper for Waverly Mills and for 23 years she was a bookkeeper for Scottish Foods.
Geraldine devoted her life to her family and to her church. She taught Sunday school to teenagers and young adults, sang in the church choir, played in the church band, and volunteered in all areas of church life. As one recalled: "She had endless patience."
Memorials may be made to the East Laurinburg Church of God for missions, PO Box 1954, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
