Gerald Kenneth "Jerry" Polston, 61, died Tuesday, August 18, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Polston; two sons, Jeff Polston of Boston, MA and Robbie Beacham and wife, Annie of Titusville, FL; a daughter, Heather Braswell and husband, Greg of Southern Pines; a brother, Curtis Polston of Bennettsville, SC; four sisters, Ruby Spry, Mildred Greene, and Sylvia Polston of Laurinburg, and Grace Pender of Elizabeth City; two grandchildren, Morgan Braswell and Evan Braswell of Southern Pines. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Polston and a sister Lois Morgan.
Jerry was born April 1, 1948 in Scotland County and was a son of the late Marvin and Ethel Walters Polston. He was a technician for 31 years with BellSouth and later served with McCarter Electric and Electrical Equipment Co.
Jerry was a gifted singer and loved beach music, and shagging. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and fishing on the outer banks as well as golf.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
