George Thomas Wright

George Thomas Wright, 82, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bobby Dean.  Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born July 10, 1940 in Robeson County, he was the son of the late Robert and Rachel Snipes Wright.  Mr. Wright was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he was very active and was a former Sunday school teacher.  He enjoyed watching old westerns and fishing.  Spending time with his family was what he loved most.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Rushing Wright of the home; one daughter, Teresa W. Windsor and her husband, David of Anderson, SC; two sons, George Thomas Wright, Jr. of Laurinburg and Matthew Wright and his wife, Sandy of Farmville, NC; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 397, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
