Mr. George Franklin Wilcox, 85, of 1712 Berwick Dr. died Wednesday, July 20, at his residence.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Jim Bumgardner. A fellowship time will follow the service at the church.
Hi is survived by his wife, Sarah Herring Wilcox; a daughter, Teresa Wilcox of Laurinburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Wilcox of Millerton, PA.
Born June 13, 1920 in Millerton, PA, he was a son of the late Holly and Edna Cleveland Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox worked in the life insurance business for 57 years and was Senior Vice President of Standard Life Insurance Company of Jackson, MS in 1985. He then moved to Bennettsville, SC and opened the Wilcox Insurance Agency. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church while in Bennettsville, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Trustee. In 2000, Mr. & Mrs. Wilcox moved to Laurinburg where they joined Faith Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
The family will also receive friends at the home, 1712 Berwick Drive, Laurinburg.
