Laurel Hill
Lt. George Thomas "Tommy" Butler, Jr., 44, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, August 19, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Multitudes Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Marshall. Burial will law enforcement honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Norris Butler of Aberdeen; his companion, Lisa Torrealba of Laurel Hill; his son, George Thomas "Trey" Butler, III of Indianapolis; his daughters, Whitney Blair Butler and Sarah Beth Butler of Indianapolis; his step-daughter, Teri Barrington of Virginia; his parents, G. Thomas Butler and Sherry Sellers Butler of Laurel Hill; his brother, Tony Butler of Laurinburg; his sister, Melanie Hester of Laurel Hill; his granddaughters, Peyton Butler and Sophie Butler of Indianapolis.
He was born September 5, 1967 in Marlboro County, and served for over four years with the Scotland County EMS before beginning his 23 ½ years of service with the Scotland County Sheriff's Department.
In his spare time Tommy enjoyed working on cars, studying old cars, attending car shows and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed fishing.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
