George Franklin Douglas, Jr.

George Franklin Douglas, Jr., 93, of Laurinburg, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Malpass, Rev. Nathan Black, and Rev. LeGrande Taylor. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. before the service in the church. Born on April 22, 1929, in Scotland County, he was the son of the late George F. and Parana Bullard Douglas. George loved working in his yard, and was a people person. He never met a stranger and particularly enjoyed meeting with his friends at Burger King for breakfast. He is survived by his three children, Frank Douglas of High Point, Wayne Douglas (Irene) of Laurel Hill, and Lorraine D. Sampson (Charles) of McColl, SC; three sisters, Helen Ward (Les) of Laurel Hill, Joann VanHoy (Grady) of Aberdeen, and Christine Douglas of Georgia; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lonnie Martin Douglas, and his brothers, Paul, Floyd, Allen, Brantley and Winfred Douglas.
