The Rev. George Robert Cheney, Jr., 85, of 1003 West Church St. died Tuesday, August 1, at his home.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Nick Mager.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Graham Wilkinson Cheney; three daughters, Ann White of Atlanta, Bess Cheney-Smith of Laurinburg, and Jane Knox Wolley of Memphis, TN; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
George was born January 2, 1915 in Hagley, Delaware. He was a graduate of the University of Deleware and Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
He served 4 years with the US Army and married Laura Graham Wilkinson of Laurinburg on December 4, 1943 at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. He became an instructor in the Veterana
