Gary Calvin East, Sr.

Gary Calvin East, Sr., 63, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Macedonia United Methodist Church , officiated by Rev. Mike Safely and Rev. Bill Knapp. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Born April 25, 1959, in Randolph County, he was a son of the late Clay Eugene and Martha Lyon East. Gary had a love for life and loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, listening to music, watching his Westerns, and watching Nascar; especially his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laura Callicutt East of the home; sons, Gary Calvin East, Jr. (Danielle) of Candor, Dustin Reid East of Abner, and Ethan East of Bennett, who he thought of as a son; sisters, Cynthia Lucas (Tim), Angie Freeman (Colin), both of Star, Regina Hawk (Richard) of Asheboro, Rhonda East of Troy, and Lisa McLean of Ramseur; brother, Marty East of Seagrove; and grandchildren, Owen Hunter East and Kayley Alicia East. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Randy East and Greg East.
