Gail Burgess Gillis

Gail Burgess Gillis, 78, of Troy passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Candor, officiated by Rev. Tim Madaris and Rev. Todd Roseman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born October 15, 1946, in Norfolk County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Lee and Elaine Batten Burgess. With her loving nature, Gail enjoyed her work as a home health care giver and helping others. She loved spending time with her family as much as possible. Gail loved her animals; especially her dog, Lika. She enjoyed going out, getting her nails done, getting her hair done by Christy at Hair Retreat in Candor, and shopping for new jewelry.

She is survived by her children, James Gillis of Robbins, Patricia Gillis of Troy, David Gillis (Anissa) of Mt. Gilead, and Elizabeth Gillis Cloninger (and her late husband, Craig Cloninger) of Troy; and grandchildren, Clay Gillis, Noah Gillis, Abigail Cloninger, and Olivia Cloninger.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Candor.
