Frances "Beetle" Olean (Hamilton) Russell

Frances “Beetle” Olean Hamilton Russell, 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Her funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at First Wesleyan Church, officiated by Dr. Ed Lindsey.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until service time.

Born April 13, 1929 in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie Saunders Hamilton.  She was a member of First Wesleyan Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star and was a First Worthy Matron of the Troy Chapter.   She also served as a Den Mother.  Beetle was owner/operator of Frances’ Beauty Shop for 55 years.  She enjoyed making flowers and sewing.  She was very outgoing.  Beetle loved her children and grandchildren.  Her family was the light of her life.

She is survived by her children, Donald Henery Russell, Jr. of Troy, Cindy and her husband, Sammy Russell of Mt. Gilead, and Art Russell and David Russell, both of Troy; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Henery Russell, Sr., and her brothers and sisters, James Hamilton, Vernon Hamilton, Myrtle Maness, Martha Hamilton, Dinah Thomas and Loraine Stutts.
