Obituary

Frances McLean Moore, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at the age of 84.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Kevin Thompson and Rev. Arlen Johnson. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Frances entered the world on May 15, 1942, born at her family's home place in Candor. She was the cherished daughter of the late Carl McLean and Evelyn Hicks McLean Cranford. A 1960 graduate of Troy High School, Frances spent her life weaving deep roots into her community through her work, vibrant spirit, and love for her family.

For 63 beautiful years, Frances was married to the love of her life, Benjamin "Ben" Cleveland Moore. Together, they built a home grounded in love and devotion, raising three sons who meant the world to her: Roy Moore (Donna) of Star, and Brian Moore (Vicky), and Jody Moore (Lori), both of Troy.

Frances was a familiar and warm presence to many across Montgomery County. Over the years, she worked at Better Burger, Russell Hosiery in Star, Cranford Flowers in Troy, and Candor Flower Shop. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner and operator of Hidden Treasures Flea Market, where she combined her business sense with her love for people.

An avid animal lover, Frances was a dedicated member of the Montgomery County Horseman's Association. She found great joy in riding her favorite horse, Pistol, and spending time with her cherished fur-babies, Gidget and Nugget. She had a natural eye for beauty, spending countless hours growing and arranging flowers. She also loved the thrill of hunting for unique finds at yard sales and flea markets, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends. Frances was a follower of Christ and she attended Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Troy until her health prevented her from going.

Family was the centerpiece of Frances's life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Larry McLean, Nancy Threadgill, and Glenda McLean; and her Bonus Father, Calvin Richardson who offered her a steadfast friendship and with whom she shared a deep, soulful bond.

Her legacy of love lives on through her husband, Ben; her three sons; her adored grandchildren, Samantha Moore, Zachary Moore, Mandy "Sissy" Moore, and Austin Moore; and her six precious great-grandchildren, Olive, Chloe, Jocelyn, Journi, Sofia, and Indie. She also leaves behind many dear cousins, nieces, a nephew, and lifelong friends who will forever miss her warmth and bright smile.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.
