For over 15 years, Frances Hopkins (age 100) has been a happy resident of Scotia Village in Laurinburg, NC. On July 17, 2016,she left Scotia Village for a home with our heavenly father.  A memorial service and reception will be held Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Morris Morgan Center at Scotia Village located at 2200 Elm Avenue, Laurinburg, NC. At a later date, a graveside service will be held at the Hopkins Family Cemetery in Hopkins, SC. Her family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the loving and professional care she has been given by all of the Scotia Village staff during these 15+ years. In addition, we thank Hospice of Scotland County for their devotion and care they have given to her during several rounds of Hospice Care. God's blessings are wished for each and everyone who has touched her life during the time she lived at Scotia Village including members of the Presbyterian Churches who visited and sent her cards over the years she was there.

Mrs. Hopkins was born on May 10, 1916 in Doddsville, MS to the late James Thomas Weeks, MD and Ozella Pentecost Weeks. She graduated from Biloxi High School in Biloxi, MS, where she spent her childhood. She also attended Perkinson Junior College in Perkinson, MS.

Her husbands, Lant Clayton Farnham, Jr. and James Rembert Hopkins, sisters Katherine Weeks Keaton and Elizabeth Weeks Wilson, beloved grandson, Glenn E. Smith III and son-in-law, Milam S. Cotten, MD preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jo Farnham Cotten Lipscomb (Walton) of Madison, MS, Katherine Farnham Smith (Glenn) of Wilkesboro, NC, Elizabeth Farnham Crabtree (Ben) of Morehead City, NC and Grace Hopkins Beard of Charlotte, NC.; eight grandchildren, Miles Cotten (Liz), Lant Cotten (Anne-Murray), Benj Crabtree (Kathy), Kathie Crabtree Huff (John), Milacey Cotten Biggs (Barr), Spencer Beard (Emmie), Lisa Smith Beard (Jeff) and Marshall Beard, Step-grandsons David (Erica) and Mark Smith, twenty-three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hopkins was a homemaker. During her life she also lived in Hattiesburg and Jackson, MS, Columbia and Santee, SC, and Fayetteville, NC, Melbourne, Australia and Seoul, Korea. She enjoyed volunteering in numerous capacities over the years, traveling, golfing, bridge, needlework, sewing, painting, her church and being with her family and friends.
