Fodie Strickland Bowen

Mrs. Fodie Strickland Bowen, 96, of 517 Peden Street, formerly of 429 McKay Street, died Saturday April 9, 2005 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel, with Rev. Lewis McLean and Rev. Steve Owenby officiating.
Mrs. Bowen is survived by two daughters, Julia B. Byrd and husband, Bill of Laurinburg and Mary B. Ellis of Laurinburg; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus Bowen; a daughter, Viola Hardee; a grandson, William Thomas Guy; fourteen brothers and sisters; two sons-in-law, Ed Ellis and Lonnie Hardee.
Born March 5, 1909 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Tilden and Alice Driggers Strickland. She was retired from Waverly Mills and was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church. "Mrs.Fodie" was known and loved by many. As long as she was able she would bake sweet potato bread, pies, cakes and fruitcakes for her many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
