On Thursday, November 15, 2018, the “Larger than Life” Floyd Steven Hicks left this life at 68 years of age at Randolph Hospice House.

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the First Wesleyan Church, officiated by Dr. Ed Lindsey. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. For Floyd’s friends and fellow motorcycle riders, you may meet at Floyd’s mother’s house at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at 893 N. Main St., Troy to proceed in procession to the service. Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 pm prior to the service.

Born November 7, 1950 in Montgomery County, he was the son of Merle Hurley Harris of Troy and the late Lonnie Thomas Hicks. He worked as a store manager for Troy Parts and served in the U.S. Army. He loved to ride motorcycles, spending time at his house at Myrtle Beach and Lake Tillery, better known as Floyd’s Beach. The loves of his life were his mother and mamaw, drag racing and racing fast cars and all women.

He is survived by  his children, Wendy Hicks and husband Thomas Cook of Wake Forest, Brian Hicks and wife Christy of Wilmington, Jason Harris and wife Jenni of Wilmington; his sister Dana Harris of Troy; and grandchildren, Clara Carver Cash, Jake Harris and Andy Harris.
