Flora "Jennie" Virginia (Parnell) Mcarthur

Flora Virginia "Jennie" McArthur, 76, of Maxton, a beloved teacher, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, at Scotland Memorial Hospital. Born on November 30, 1947, Jennie was a pillar of her community and her dedication to her family, faith, and vocation was evident to all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 2:00 pm at Centre Presbyterian Church in Maxton with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 16 at 6:00 to 8:00pm at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium. Along with her parents, he was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Colon McArthur, Sr. She is survived by her two sons, Bob McArthur of Maxton and Randall McArthur and his wife, Angie, also of Maxton. Jennie was the proud grandmother of Alex Norris of Southern Pines, Allysa Norris and Megan Mills of Rockingham, Brandon McArthur of Maxton, Kaela Bishop-Grover and her husband, Will, of Laurinburg, and Randall "RJ" McArthur and Randalyn "Randi" McArthur. Her love for her family was boundless, and she took great joy in their accomplishments and milestones. Jennie's professional life was dedicated to education. Her love for cooking was well-known among her family, friends, and many have fond memories of the wonderful meals she prepared. Jennie's interests extended beyond her profession and her kitchen. She was an active member of her church, where she cherished the Circle Meetings and Ingatherings. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she was a source of strength and comfort for many in her congregation. Her love for the church ladies was well-known, and she considered them her extended family. Jennie also had a deep love for farming. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Centre Presbyterian  Circle #4  224 Oxendine School Road, Maxton, NC 28364 Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the family.
