Faye Evans Harris Cashwell

Mrs. Faye Evans Harris Cashwell, 87, of 719 S. Pine Street died Friday, September 9, after a four-month battle with lung cancer.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Central United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Quinton Covington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Katherine Quick Evans; a nephew, Tommy Evans and wife, Naomi of Laurinburg, nieces, Betty McLaurin of Laurinburg, Cathy Stuckey and husband, Mike of Knighdale, Janet Norris and husband, Ricky of Four Oaks, and Jenny Evans of Benson; Other surviving family includes step-daughter, Virginia Graham, Step-daughter-in-law, Dottie Hargrove, step-grandchildren, Tammy St. Clair, Tommy Hargrove, and Cara Usitynski; and seven step-great grandchildren all of New York. She is also survived by a special friend, Carlene Hardee.
Born December 10, 1917 near Ash in Brunswick County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Brosia Smith Evans. Until her recent illness, she was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, the Scotland County Growing Friendship Club, Carolina Tours, and the CUMC Happy Methodists. Since her retirement in 1982 as a supervisor at the Ingraham Clock Plant, she traveled to all 50 states, Nova Scotia, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and the Panama Canal.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Faye was preceded in death by brothers, Danvis, Clyde, Everett, Burnie, and Lennis, and sisters, Elva Brady, Smitha Evans, and Alta Mae Whitfield. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Roy Harris, a veteran and former Chief of Police of Laurinburg, Robert "Leon" Cashwell, formerly of New York, and step-son, Jim Hargrove of New York.
In recent years, she was particularly close with great nephew Jerry Patterson and wife, Denice of Raleigh and great niece Dawn Pressley and husband, Tony of Monroe as well as her great-great nephews, Daniel and Sam Patterson of Raleigh and Evan Pressley of Monroe. Mrs. Cashwell is survived by other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
