Laurinburg
Evelyn Boyd Davis was born in Greenville, SC on April 2, 1923 to the late William Guerry and Annie Mildred Yates Boyd. She resided in Greenville until graduating from Greenville High School in 1940 when she moved to Gastonia, NC to attend Evans College of Commerce, graduating in 1942.
She served as an executive secretary for Wachovia Bank until 1947 at which time she married Randall grey (Randy) Davis, Sr. of Winston-Salem. They were blessed with three children, a son and two daughters.
In September, 1954, Randy was transferred to Laurinburg at President of Luter Packing Company in Maxton. Evelyn thrived as a devoted wife, and mother. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, and served in many volunteer capacities where she was devoted to her children, ensuring her presence in their lives.
She, along with her husband and children, were charter members of Saint Luke United Methodist Church where she was very active in the Chancel Choir, the United Methodist Women, the Emmaus Community, and was a Stephen Minister. She also served Saint Luke in many other capacities during her life, and she truly loved her church family.
A volunteer at Scotland Memorial Hospital for over 20 years, she was noted and awarded by the hospital for her heartfelt 5, 500 hours of volunteer service.
A memorial service for Mrs. Davis will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son, Rusty Davis (Kathy) of Florence, SC; her daughters, Patricia D. Larsen (Robert) of Laurinburg and Janet D. Mather of Greeneville, TN; her sister, Dorothy Hailey of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
